
As part of the youth festival, the ‘Banglar Bhoj’ traditional food festival 2025, organized by the Tourism and Hospitality Industry Skills Council, was held in Bangladesh. The event took place from February 6 - 8 at Mustafa Kamal Ataturk Park in Banani, with the fair running every day from 11 AM to 8 PM.
The fair featured participation from over a hundred entrepreneurs showcasing traditional foods from various regions of Bangladesh. Some notable foods included Hilsa fish from Bangladesh, Natore's Kacha Golla, Pora Bairi's Chomchom from Tangail, Til Khaja from Kushtia, Chana Mukhi from Brahmanbaria, honey from Sundarbans, Rasmalai from Comilla, and various other traditional Bengali foods for display, marketing, and enjoyment, read a press release.
The Banglar Bhoj festival celebrated the rich food culture of Bangladesh, featuring a wide range of foods, sweets, and the preparation of dishes. It also served as a platform for connecting chefs and skilled professionals.
On February 6, Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, Adviser to the Ministry of Culture, inaugurated the fair as the chief guest.
The event was presided over by Mohiuddin Helal, Chairman of the Tourism and Hospitality Industry Skills Council.
On February 7, the Bangladesh Chef Conference was also held. This event aimed to create a bridge among chefs and professionals in the culinary industry. It also sought to inspire students and increase awareness of traditional foods like Khulna’s Chuijhal, Chittagong’s Kalabhuna, and Sylhet’s Satkra, making them more acceptable to the public.
Organizers highlighted that through this event, Bangladeshi agricultural products could be introduced as Geographical Indication (GI) products both locally and internationally. Additionally, the event would engage youth to help preserve and promote the traditional domestic food culture.
The event also aimed to transform the “Banglar Bhoj” into a live kitchen and service platform for food preparation methods, food sourcing, cultural preservation, and management.
Skilled professionals in the tourism industry were present to motivate newcomers, raising public awareness and making the event a unique celebration.
This festival was held with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
Over a hundred entrepreneurs participated in the fair, presenting traditional foods from different regions of the country.
